Classic Orange Candy is a sweet, chewy citrus treat made from fresh orange peels simmered in syrup and coated in sugar.
Ingredients
4 large oranges
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar for coating (optional)
Instructions
1. Wash and peel oranges, then slice peels into strips
2. Boil peels for 10 minutes and drain; repeat to reduce bitterness
3. Prepare syrup by heating sugar and water until dissolved
4. Add peels and simmer until translucent
5. Remove peels and let dry on rack
6. Coat with sugar if desired
Notes
Use organic oranges for best results
Repeat boiling to reduce bitterness
Dry completely before storing
Optional: dip in chocolate for variation
